Descente is proud and excited to be working with Marco Odermatt again on a new exclusive MARCO skiwear capsule collection.

Complementing its internationally renowned alpine skiwear, Descente will launch the new .EX Collection for the 2024/25 season – designed to reflect the changing skiing environment by adapting to climate change and offering versatile options for the differing skiing styles and clothing tastes of a younger generation of skiers. The .EX means EXpansion or EXtension related to the widening of Descente’s more classic alpine wear to incorporate the changing demographic of the younger skier, looking at their clothing preferences for the increasingly popular back country and freestyle skiing and their desire for their skiwear also to be versatile for non-ski activities.
With a 90–year history of world class performance skiwear, .EX is an exciting new challenge for Descente. Diversity is a key element in the .EX Collection and clever layering options are important, allowing for choices to suit conditions, situations and personal taste. This, combined with a color palette of earth tones, offers a new visual to appeal to the next generation of enthusiastic skiers.
For this season’s collaboration, Descente asked Marco to select a capsule collection from the new .EX range which reflects his taste and needs and aligns with his personal preferences in styling and colors. We have listened closely to his opinions and have added some particular items at his request. He has selected nine items which will be offered exclusively in his choice of colors and with a newly designed Marco logo which is detachable for easy care.

While he has emphatically risen to the pinnacle of world Alpine skiing, his personal love of skiing carries over into private enjoyment of recreational skiing, aligning him closely with young everyday skiers who all have their own various passions for how they enjoy the sport. The Marco Odermatt capsule collection, created in close collaboration with Marco, will debut in the 2023 autumn-winter season and evolve annually, offering new Descente styling to all.
Collection Overview and Features
The designs feature a graphic logo
The designs feature a graphic logo showing Marco's first gold medal winning time of "2:09.35" in the Men's Giant Slalom event at the Beijing Olympics. This logo is a detachable patch with a hook-and-loop fastener which can be removed when washing the garment.
S.I.O Minimum Pattern
The jacket and pants are crafted with Descente's S.I.O pattern engineering resulting from years of speed competition wear research and development. The collection perfectly represents Descente's "design by functionality" philosophy, in which design without functionality is merely "decoration". The concept of "Minimalism" removes unnecessary decorations, leaving a fusion of functional features as the pure design elements. Directly designing with a single piece of fabric on a moving body minimizes the number of pattern pieces, maximizes comfort and optimizes performance. This approach maximizes the benefits of "functionality", reducing garment weight and improving ease of movement. A reduction in the number of sewn seams improves waterproofing and mobility, rounding out the enhanced aesthetics of the finished garment.

Breathing System
Introducing Descente's new Breathing System, which keeps the body comfortable by ensuring airflow within the garment and venting excess moisture. This caters to the needs of athletes engaged in strenuous activities in varying locations, climates and seasonal temperature differences.
The exhaust vents located on the upper back work in conjunction with pit zips on the sides to promote the release of excess humidity from inside the garment while maintaining full skiwear windproof, waterproof and insulation properties. Vertical front pockets have top and bottom opening zippers to access vents for additional airflow.
Meticulous Design
The midlayer items are designed with a focus on layering with the jacket, ensuring the best fit when worn together. The special quilting technique i2C is designed not only for improved mobility, but also to reduce cold spots and keep heat in. The backs are in windproof fabric with laser-cut perforations to provide the ultimate in comfort, combining breathability with windproofing.

S.I.O 3Layer Hard Shell Jacket
A hard shell jacket made for maximum mobility and comfort in all mountain conditions. The minimum pattern SIO *1 and an excellent 4way stretch fabric combine to optimise mobility in action and create a refined three-dimensional silhouette. Worn with a mid layer, the jacket's BREATHABLE SYSTEM *2 in the back adjusts the inner environment with efficient ventilation that keeps the inside of the jacket dry at all times. The front zipper has a Dual Zip design to allow expansion for freedom of movement and to accommodate a midlayer garment when necessary.

Versatile shell pants built for comfort and easy skiing under all mountain conditions, with the minimum pattern SIO *1 and an excellent 4way stretch fabric combining to optimise mobility in action. The bib ensures that powder snow can't get in easily, and body environment and temperature can be adjusted through choice of midlayer garments. Easy to put on and take off with a side zipper from chest to waist.

i2C thermo Middlelayer 3/4 Pants
An insulated pants in a special, 3-layer knit fabric that improves both heat retention and wind resistance. The stretchy knit fabric is formed in three layers to create corrugated cardboard-like air spaces, making a light but thick-textured fabric structure efficiently generating warm dead air. Excellent windproofing comes from ripstop nylon on the front and back of the body, and Bemberg® insulation, which both absorbs moisture and generates heat, is incorporated in the front for improved heat retention. Because of its excellent stretch, it can be used as running wear and as clothing where maximum freedom of movement is important.
